808s & Greatest Hits
Our Golden Friend’s firstborn signing, 808s and Greatest Hits is the recording project of Melbourne multi-instrumentalist and producer Skube Burnell. Mellow and melodic, Burnell’s songs are the best of bedroom pop — with melodies that meander like a 2pm daydream and then twist into a deeper sleep, like a semi-surreal dream.
After self-releasing his debut record in 2014, the 808s canon has grown to include a string of singles: “New Bounce”, “House of Love”, and “Nice ’N’ Easy”, all mixed by Stu Mackenzie (King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard) and mastered by Mikey Young (Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Total Control).
