Originally from Byron Bay, Treloar is now based in Melbourne, and plays as Poppongene both solo and with a five-piece band, with Lee Hannah, Gemma Helms, Justin Kuchel, and Deanna Ramsey.
Poppongene has played significant shows, supporting Lucy Dacus (US), Weyes Blood (US), and Slow Dancer, and also showcased at industry music conference BigSound in 2019. Poppongene’s music is drenched in the sun’s rays but still isn’t afraid to embrace all seasons. With this project, Treloar masters a glistening sound all her own - poppy and phosphorescent, furnished with catharsis. Poppongene makes music for moods, ebbing and flowing down the river of figuring it all out.
