POPPONGENE ANNOUNCES DEBUT EP 'FUTURES UNSURE' + SHARES NEW VIDEO 'ETERNALLY ALONE'
Poppongene has today announced the release date of her long awaited debut EP 'Futures Unsure'. To be released on Friday 3rd July, Futures Unsure will be available to purchase on cassette, and can be pre-ordered now via Bandcamp HERE.
Today Poppongene also shares the video for 'Eternally Alone', on Broadr Lines, directed by Clancy Walker. The track, released in August 2019, was produced in collaboration with Tim Harvey (Real Feelings, Jade Imagine, Emma Louise). “Eternally Alone” is an upbeat ode to dating-complacence, dreaming of an effortless connection, all the while reasoning that alone isn't so bad.
Of the video, Poppongene says:
"Eternally Alone is about not settling for something that doesn't work for you, and additionally, the comical aspect of the alone-ness that can run parallel to this way of being. The video is a humorous depiction of the pure chaos faced when seeking a romantic human connection."
Poppongene is multidisciplinary Melbourne artist Sophie Treloar. Originally from Byron Bay, Treloar is now based in Melbourne, and plays as Poppongene both solo and with a five-piece band, with Skube Burnell, Gemma Helms, Justin Kuchel, and Deanna Ramsey.
Off the back of the success of her first three singles, Poppongene has played significant shows, supporting Lucy Dacus (US), Weyes Blood (US), and Slow Dancer. Poppongene’s music is drenched in the sun’s rays but still isn’t afraid to embrace all seasons. With this project, Treloar masters a glistening sound all her own - poppy and phosphorescent, furnished with catharsis. Poppongene makes music for moods, ebbing and flowing down the river of figuring it all out.
