Released at the very tail end of 2019, Wet Towel is the third single lifted from Poppongene's forthcoming debut EP 'Futures Unsure', set for release on Friday 3rd July 2020.  The seven track EP was created in collaboration with producer and multi-instrumentalist Tim Harvey (Jade ImagineGena Rose Bruce, Lisa Mitchell, Emma Louise). “Wet Towel” is a pop elegy for a relationship, frustrated but ultimately accepting.

Of the song and video, Poppongene says:
"Wet Towel describes the disconnect and parallel release at the end of a relationship. It’s a punchy and sparse song about the multitude of feelings loss brings. At its core, Wet Towel snapshots the frustration of not being able to help someone you love - and the bittersweet realisation that you’re not responsible for anyone other than yourself."

"The Wet Towel video was made in isolation, with my dear housemates, namely director Roxanne Halley. It tells a simple narrative of a woman wistfully washing, drying and folding her ex’s sheets and clothes, only to throw them straight into the trash. It’s a cheeky “fuck you” farewell veiled by the dreamy and airy atmosphere of a perfume campaign."

Of the video, director and DOP Roxie Halley says:
"Making this video in isolation meant I had to keep the concept really clean and simple. It didn’t take long to come up with a solid idea to bring the lyrics to life by focusing on getting beautiful shots that accentuate the music."
